Fifteen-minute preview of GAME OF THRONES

HBO aired a 15-minute preview of the first episode of Game of Thrones last night (lacking the title sequence). Here it is (note, not safe for work due to multiple decapitations and lots of blood):

Very promising so far. Two weeks to the series premiere!

I understand why they changed the Others to the White-Walkers, but do you know if that is a name George came up with or the Producers?

Never before have 15 minutes gone by so quickly! Plus I'm having to fill my wife in on who is whom. I'm gonna need a white board to help her keep track of all the characters!
Kinda funny: I'm telling her about Jon Snow, and the very first question she has is "So how does the wife feel about him?!" Then right after she says that we see the scene showing Lady Catelyn glaring icy daggers at Jon and she's like: "Oh! OK! Well that answers that!"

I am so excited. The "Others" looked amazing. The Wall was awesome. Sean Bean does play that role often - but no one can do it better than him.

'White Walkers' is a term from the book. Not used very often, but a canon alternative name for the Others.

They should just use the term "Hostiles."

Every time I think my excitement for this show has peaked, something new pops up and makes me even more restless for April 17th. Thanks for posting this, Wert.

When the guy finds something red in the snow, picks it up & the arrogant lordling asks what is it - well, what is it?
Anyone have ideas?

Am I the only one who didn't understand the Others in this preview? I thought those were the undead corpses come back to life since they had blue eyes? For some reason I've always pictured the Others as being these alien-looking humanoids with no hair and large eyes and completely white. They look like Uruk-hai from the LOTR movies in this. Other than that everything looks amazing. I just don't understand why they felt the need to change the opening scene so much. It could have been adapted easily for the show. /nerd rant

@anon

I think that is supposed to be intestines.

Jeff - I actually always pictured the Others as Brom's take on Elric of Melnibone, this:

And the wraiths as dead wildlings. Either way in the preview we didn't get a good look at The Others really, though I did like the ice crackling/tinkling noise they made.

I don't know... the acting seemed pretty stiff to me. Maybe when they add the mood music in post-production, it will liven things up a bit. Frankly, I'm a bit bummed. Maybe I'm just impossibly finicky or something...
