...I'm a longtime fan of the Vorkosigan series.<br /><br />Mirror Dance is the apex of the series in my opinion. The next one, Memory, is excellent. Bujold is not afraid to take Miles through some serious changes. The fallout from Memory results in a downward spiral of quality for the series.<br /><br />The early Miles novels (Warrior's Apprentice, Vor Game, and with lesser success Cetaganda) are kind of a set of crazy romps. The middle ones (Mirror Game, Memory) explore very interesting character development. and the later ones feel like they are going through the motions -- relying more on the nostalgia of the earlier books.
