What I started to do was read the prologue of books 2 and 3 to get a recap of books 1 and 2. It's been 20 years* since I read those books and at this point it's mostly a blur. And unfortunately, as excited as I am for this return to Osten Ard, I can't foresee myself finding the time to reread the original books anytime soon.
