Do an original D&D movie first, if it does well then do a movie on Dragonlance or Crystal Shard. Get your feet wet first before diving into the pool. I like this option because it reflects the source material and the whole "meta" aspect but it can be taken more seriously. It reads like a screenplay. It has incredible set pieces, very well drawn characters (that would translate to well to screen), a great plot (in blockbuster movie terms). Adapting it would be pretty straight forward. But the special effects, costumes, makeup and production design would have to be on point. Hell, the tons of brilliant official paintings and art already serves as perfect costume, character, production design.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7703856341303488608.post-21882794232044365032013-05-18T11:25:36.112+00:002013-05-18T11:25:36.112+00:00The COMMUNITY episode was great, but it was also q...The COMMUNITY episode was great, but it was also quite short. Also, not many people watched it (COMMUNITY has a way higher profile than its audience figures has ever suggested) and a film would be able to get into the material in more depth. THE GAMERS 2, for example, isn't far off that episode of COMMUNITY in quality and humour, held back only a little by the more inexperienced actors.Adam Whiteheadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11383677312079611311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7703856341303488608.post-44489581025444731842013-05-17T21:17:47.991+00:002013-05-17T21:17:47.991+00:00Mazes and Monsters did suck, but the NBC Community...Mazes and Monsters did suck, but the NBC Community dungeons and dragons episode worked really well (despite obvious limitations and lack of depth due to the show's 22 minute running time).Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08791410681515127122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7703856341303488608.post-20515829617860016272013-05-17T21:00:29.336+00:002013-05-17T21:00:29.336+00:00I think the Dragonlance Chronicles would make the ...I think the Dragonlance Chronicles would make the better films although I can see your point about budget and the need for it to be a trilogy.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7703856341303488608.post-10672898475649820442013-05-17T20:31:22.586+00:002013-05-17T20:31:22.586+00:00You got at this a little at the end of your post, ...You got at this a little at the end of your post, but the main thing going against option #1 is that it would almost certainly compare unfavorably against the Community episode that is more or less the same thing (minus special effects).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7703856341303488608.post-43197091200143457192013-05-17T17:40:41.333+00:002013-05-17T17:40:41.333+00:00I have only read the first 6 Drizzt books, but I t...I have only read the first 6 Drizzt books, but I thought they were really good for what they are.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7703856341303488608.post-14572187869804132442013-05-17T15:47:52.985+00:002013-05-17T15:47:52.985+00:00I'd just go with the low-budget, occasionally ...I'd just go with the low-budget, occasionally hilarious European-shot D&D movies, if it's all the same to you.

I want Lux the Barbarian to fight Lady Metalface (I never worked out her name) from the third film.
