Cover blurb:
Larssonous? Or out-and-out burglary?
You know how dragons feel about burglars ...
Lizbreath Salamander is young and beautiful. Her scales have an iridescent sheen, her wings arch proudly, her breath has a tang of sulfur. And on her back a tattoo of a mythical creature: a girl. But when Lizbreath is drawn into a dark conspiracy she will have to rely on more than her beauty and her vicious claws the size of sabres . . . A dragon has disappeared, one of a secretive clan. As Lizbreath delves deeper into their history she realises that these dragons will do anything to defend their secrets. Welcome to the world of The Dragon With The Girl Tattoo. A world of gloomy Nordic dragons leading lives uncannily like our own (despite their size, despite the need for extensive fireproofing of home furnishings), a world of money hoarded, a world of darkness and corruption. A world where people are the fantasy.
The book is released on 18 November 2010 in the UK.
That's a rather well endowed "girl".
ReplyDeletelooks like a shit-bomb of a book waiting to happen.
ReplyDeletehas the author forgotten that those original books by craig dealt with rape?
damn, it's like disaster movie all over again
I'm not really sure how a book dealing with rape necessarily should be immune from parody/satire if other aspects of the book warrant it. Having perused a couple of Roberts other parodies, I very much doubt that this will be a blow by blow reinterpretation, so I very much doubt he will be making light of rape in any form.
ReplyDeletejamie: I know but, the premise of it alone just leaves such a bad bad taste in my mouth.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely brilliant. Just the cover and the blurb made my day. I strongly suspect that I wouldn't be impressed by the book itself because how much milege can one get out of this gag? Still, I do appreciate the joke!
ReplyDeleteHaving read Larsson's trilogy this looks like a fourth-rate hack trying to cash in on a great novel. Similar to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It might be an amusing idea as a t-shirt but not as a book. Why do we need a satire about violence against women, the main theme in Larsson's novels? Why not write a dragon parody of the Holocaust or slavery?
ReplyDeleteive read it - it was rely good but more of a fantasy thing so called "serious readers" like the few that have left nasty comments wont like it
