GAME OF THRONES video introduces book mystery to TV watchers

Readers of the Song of Ice and Fire novels will have long known that at the very heart of the series lies a fascinating puzzle revolving around the identity of Jon Snow's mother...and maybe his father too. The five published novels have thrown numerous misdirections, clues and red herrings at the reader, but one conclusion is certainly more commonly drawn than others.

TV watchers of Game of Thrones, on the other hand, have not had this mystery presented with the same impact. Indeed, it was only after several, somewhat heavy-handed, moments in Season 5 that a lot of fans of the TV show started asking some of the same questions that book readers had almost two decades earlier. To help them out, one fan put together an excellent video outlining this mystery and the one obvious (but not-yet confirmed) conclusion.

For his part, George R.R. Martin long ago confirmed that this is one of the most vital mysteries in the novels, and he only allowed David Benioff and Dan Weiss to adapt the books when they gave the correct answer to it. Martin has also said that it will be a mystery resolved either in the final or penultimate volume of the series. With only three seasons of the TV show left to go, this must mean we are getting close to having it revealed one way or another.
