Richard Morgan finishes THE COLD COMMANDS

Richard Morgan has completed The Cold Commands and should deliver it imminently. The book will then enter the editorial cycle and we can see if the hoped-for late 2011 release date holds.

Great news. Interesting to see how the story develops after The Steel Remains.

Eh, THE STEEL REMAINS didn't live up to the hype and left me underwhelmed, as if Morgan was trying too hard to distinguish from his sci-fi background (or not hard enough?), or as if his portraying a gay protagonist/anti-hero/??? was enough to support/justify the story.

That said, the focus on Ringil's sexuality was interesting, in part because of its unapologetic portrayal, and there was some pretty cool stuff in the novel.

Anywho, congrats to Morgan, but this one'll be a loan from the library for me. (As all my other books are, but still.)

I am reading The Steel Remains right now, and really enjoying it. I'm excited to move on to the next book in the series. I'm glad it's in the editing stages and the 2011 release date is sticking. Exciting!
