To be specific, Anon, I'd say sci-fi horror. Alien, like Prometheus, was directed by Ridley Scott and are sci-fi horror. Aliens was directed by James Cameron and employs a lot of Cameron's typical tropes in its narrative. Cameron toned down the horror in Aliens, making it more of a straight-up sci-fi.
So, youse guys across the pond get Prometheus the same day as we do, huh? You got The Avengers before we did and considering the reports flowing back to the States, between Avengers and Prometheus, this looks like a damn good summer for sci-fi.
Oh dear! Saw the trailer on TV-seen it all before I'm afraid. More of the same old stuff but took me back to the original Alien which was ORIGINAL. High on atmosphere, tension and shocks as well as a good story. This looks like a rehash. On the TV, funny there was no negative comments!

Now what's the point going to see the film? We've already had all the important lines and all the plot developments given to us in the trailer.
