David Anthony Durham completes the ACACIA TRILOGY

David Anthony Durham has reported on his blog that he has completed the third and final volume of The Acacia Trilogy, The Sacred Band, following on from 2007's The War with the Mein (often found as just Acacia though) and The Other Lands (2009).

Publication date is unknown at this time, but I'd guess late 2011 to early 2012. I haven't read this trilogy yet as I was waiting for it to be finished.

It's an excellent series, I'd definitely recommend it. Very similar to ASOIAF, even in the family structure of the protagonist family, but it handles the semi-magical otherworldy threat with a great deal of mystery and, eventually, clever maturity. Good stuff.

And I'm glad Durham is cranking them out on time. Nice change from a lot of the other authors I follow :D

Excellent. The Other Lands was a very entertaining read (I love how the whole thing is driven by a gigantic fuck-up on the League's part), and I have high hopes for the last book.

I thought Acacia was cold and clinical, as drab as reading a lab report than a rousing good story. It's funny, after reading so many high opinions of it. My suggestion: rather than purchasing the book, pick it up at your local library so you don't waste your money.

I too have been waiting until all 3 are out, am looking forward to reading it in one fell swoop when the final book is published.

Yes! Best news I've heard in quite some time.
