Something I've been working on...

I'm now officially allowed to talk about this. For the last couple of weeks I've been working on an essay for a forthcoming book about A Song of Ice and Fire. I turned in the first draft a few days ago and anticipate quite a lot of work to bring it up to standard, but I'm excited as this will be my first work published in book format (not to mention my first paid writing job ever).

The book is called Beyond the Wall and is due out in June 2012 from BenBella, as part of their Smart Pop line. The editor is novelist and former TSR fiction editor James Lowder. A full list of contributors should be available soon.

Is this book fan fiction do you have GRRM's permission? Is it related to The World of Ice and Fire in any way? Don't we already have more than enough ASOIF material out there whats the point of adding another accompanying book.

Well done son. Is this real money, not Smarties?

Congratulations, I am looking forward to reading it.

GRRM is aware of the book and suggested some of the writers for it. It's a non-fiction book 'about' ASoIaF and some of the themes, tropes and ideas it raises and uses.

Congratulations!

Hopefully, there will be no contribution by Pearson Moore...

Congrats! Sounds interesting. There are essentially no other books/series I'd be interested in reading this sort of analysis/opinion on, but ASOIAF really does generate that kind of enthusiasm in people & I'm going to have to get me a copy!

Missed seeing this until now. Congrats. Hope you had fun writing about the topic, as essays can be a blast when it's a labor of love as well as a paid gig :D
